This module explores security measures and legislation supporting the My Health Record system and how your organisation’s policy governs the use of the system. It outlines your obligations when accessing and sharing information and how patient controls may influence access to and the management of health information in their record – it assumes that you have some knowledge of the My Health Record system.

This course is designed to help you register and prepare your organisation to access My Health Record.  At the end of this module, you will be able to: explain the processes required to register your organisation and prepare team members to access My Health Record identify any gaps in your organisation’s current capability to access My Health Record develop an action plan for overcoming these gaps and implementing My Health Record use outline legislation and organisational policies that support the use of the My Health Record system.

This module provides an overview of the My Health Record system and the key health information that it contains. It outlines benefits of use for healthcare providers as well as describing how consumers can use and manage their records. It also explains how healthcare providers can access My Health Record and the key steps involved in implementation. At the end of this module, you will be able to:

    • explain what My Health Record is and the key health information it holds
    • outline consumer and healthcare provider interaction with the system
    • describe how My Health Record may support better healthcare
    • identify how to gain access to the My Health Record system.

Using My Health Record in General Practice 

This module provides an overview of My Health Record and describes how general practitioners (GPs) can use it within their practice.  At the end of this module, you will be able to:

    • outline the importance of uploading quality data to the My Health Record system.
