Learning Pathway: Academic

As an academic, finding relevant CPD activities that align with your registered scope of practice and meet your learning goals is important.

The Medical Board of Australia (MBA) understands that ongoing CPD doesn’t just involve conferences and courses. That’s why the Standard* mandates minimum hours of learning across two domains.

Domain 1 = Minimum 12.5 hours	Domain 2 = Minimum 25 hours
1. Educational Activities	2a. Reviewing Performance (min 5 hours)
1. Educational Activities	2b. Measuring Outcomes (min 5 hours)

The Standard’s* required 50 hours of CPD can include the completion of accredited and accepted CPD activities found in our Catalogue, as well as self-recorded on-the-job patient and peer experiences.

By discussing unique cases with colleagues?

CPD activities that reflect your registered scope of practice, meet the Standard* and align with our program are recognised by AMA CPD Home. Completing your written CPD plan using our template is the first step to determine your learning goals for the year.

What types of CPD activities are relevant to you?

We recommend you become familiar with the CPD Home Program Guide, available from our website.

The following lists are example CPD activity types that may be of interest where relevant to your role.

Domain 1: Educational Activities (EA) (minimum 12.5 hours)
Any listed EA activity type supporting your learning interests identified in your written CPD plan.

Supporting evidence

When you complete CPD activities, obtaining supporting evidence demonstrating your participation may be out of reach. We provide a range of logs and templates to complete and save with your learning record should you be CPD audited by the MBA or AMA CPD Home.
