Maximising your CPD hours: Audit Edition

A guide to getting more Domain 2 CPD hours

The art of auditing consists of conducting a thorough and fair audit. The auditing process can be categorised into five crucial stages:

  1. Determining the scope and standards
  2. Data collection
  3. Conducting the audit
  4. Interpreting and presenting the results
  5. Implementing changes and monitoring progress

We understand that this process is no small feat, so we developed a suggestive guide to assist you in maximising your Domain 2 CPD hours for Stage 3 and Stage 4.

CPD activities allotted to these stages may alter based on your scope of practice and rationale for the audit.

Stage 3: Conducting the audit

You can record your CPD hours against the respective audit type and allocate additional hours accrued throughout this process against the relevant CPD activity type. For instance, if you are conducting a peer review from a patient care perspective, you can record this process against Domain 2: Reviewing Performance - Peer Review Audit, accruing up to 25 CPD hours.

Suppose you have spent additional time reviewing patient care pathways and outcomes to assess them against the audit standards / criteria. In that case, those supplementary hours can be recorded against those CPD activities (Domain 2: Measuring Outcomes - Patient care pathways, Domain 2: Measuring Outcomes - Analysis of patient outcomes).
