Treating Hands, Feet and Atopy with Medical Acupuncture

Description

The proposed workshop is designed for GPs looking to deepen their understanding of two common clinical areas: musculoskeletal pain (wrist, hand, ankle, foot) and stopic conditions (asthma, eczema, allergic rhinitis).  Learn how to recognise common MSK and atopic presentations, understand the evidence base for acupuncture in these conditions, and consider how acupuncture may complement your current clinical practice.   

This will be a hybrid activity involving online predisposing and reinforcing activities (9hrs) as well as a face-to-face workshop (5hrs). 


Learning Outcomes

  1. Summarise the scientific evidence for acupuncture treatment of wrist, hand, ankle, and foot pain conditions, and for atopic conditions
  2. Implement basic TCM principles in assessing wrist, hand, ankle and foot pain conditions and atopic conditions
  3. Formulate acupuncture treatment plans for wrist, hand, ankle, and foot pain, and for atopic presentations
  4. Develop guidelines for your practice for acupuncture treatment of wrist, hand, ankle, and foot pain condtions, and for atopic conditions.

Speaker: Dr David Lee MBBS, FMAC, M. Phil

Dr Lee has been teaching acupuncture to doctors for over 40 years.  He has held positions within AMAC as Federal President and as Chair of Education.  He has been involved as examiner and moderator for medical acupuncture programs in Australia with AMAC, and internationally, with the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada, the University of Alberta, Canada, and the AUT University in Auckland, New Zealand.
