AHPRA's Advertising Guidelines

Description

If you are providing a health service, then AHPRA’s advertising requirements apply to you. Advertising is such an important part of providing a successful health service, but it is also an area that has a number of risks and pitfalls – risks that go above and beyond what non-health businesses face. These include both AHPRA’s expectations of health practitioners, but also of businesses. A breach of the National Law’s advertising provisions is a criminal offence that can carry very heavy fines, so it pays to make sure that your advertising is compliant. Whether you’re a sole practitioner, operating a busy practice, or a content creator, we outline many ways in which your advertising can unwittingly be in breach and also provide guidance to safely promote your services.

At the end of the course, you should be in a great position to know how to advertise in a compliant way, and minimise the chances that a regulator will become interested. You’ll also know how the regulators tend to regulate the area, and what the potential outcomes are if you do slip up and breach your obligations.
