This course is divided into three detailed units, each focusing on essential aspects of dermatological care:
Unit 1: Common Benign Conditions
This unit provides an in-depth look at common benign skin lesions. Topics include epidermal, melanocytic, and vascular lesions, such as seborrheic keratosis, melanocytic nevi, and cherry angiomas. The unit also covers soft tissue and neural lesions, like dermatofibromas and neurofibromas, as well as cystic lesions such as epidermoid cysts. Participants will learn about diagnosis, differential diagnosis, and treatment options like cryotherapy, excision, and laser therapy.
Unit 2: Pigmentary Conditions
This unit focuses on pigmentary disorders, including hypopigmented and hyperpigmented conditions. Topics covered include pityriasis alba, pityriasis versicolor, idiopathic guttate hypomelanosis, vitiligo, and melasma. Participants will explore the causes, diagnostic tools like Wood’s lamp, and treatment options such as topical steroids, antifungals, and laser therapies.
Unit 3: Cutaneous Infections
This unit covers bacterial, fungal, and viral infections of the skin. Common infections discussed include impetigo, cellulitis, and erythrasma, as well as viral warts and scabies. Participants will learn about the clinical presentation, diagnosis, and management of these infections, including the use of antibiotics, antifungals, and topical treatments.
This course equips healthcare professionals with the necessary knowledge to diagnose and manage common dermatological conditions effectively, enhancing patient care in general practice.
