IBD Workshop - Managing complex IBD issues - Ages and stages

Description

IBD for GPs and Physicians Workshop series – IBD Workshop 5

Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis affect more than 180,000 Australians and require ongoing, coordinated care. General practitioners are essential to effective, multidisciplinary management of these chronic conditions, but many report limited training and confidence in this area.

Workshop 5 in this national education series explores age- and stage-specific considerations in IBD care—from childhood through to older age.

This 90-minute, live, online session provides GPs with practical tools and clinical strategies to better support patients at key life transitions.

Topics include:

  • Managing IBD in children and adolescents, including diagnosis and growth/development concerns
  • Supporting smooth and structured transition of care from paediatric to adult services
  • Fertility and pregnancy considerations in women with IBD
  • Clinical care and risk management for elderly patients with IBD

Led by a multidisciplinary panel of GPs, gastroenterologists, and educators, the session features case-based learning, peer discussion, and practical tools aligned with national clinical guidelines.

This workshop is brought to you by Crohn’s & Colitis Australia (CCA), in partnership with the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA) and Australian General Practice Accreditation Limited (AGPAL).
