This course consists of two detailed units:
Unit 1: Childhood Nutrition - Part A
This unit introduces the nutritional requirements for infants and children, focusing on the importance of the first 1,000 days, breastfeeding, formula feeding, and the introduction of solid foods. It covers the Australian dietary guidelines for children, emphasising age-appropriate nutrition, including iron-rich first foods, the role of breast milk or formula, and the transition to family foods.
Unit 2: Childhood Nutrition - Part B
This unit addresses common childhood nutrition concerns, including fussy eating, faltering growth, childhood obesity, and constipation. Participants will explore practical approaches to managing these issues, such as offering nutritious meals, increasing caloric intake for growth, and dietary modifications to prevent and treat constipation.
This course equips healthcare professionals with the tools to effectively manage childhood nutrition, improving health outcomes for young patients.
