Assessment of permanent impairment in the NSW workers compensation scheme (instructor-led) - Core Module

Description

This training module provides an introduction to the NSW workers compensation guidelines for the evaluation of permanent impairment 4th edition (Guidelines) and how they are to be used when assessing impairment injury or disease in New South Wales.

The methodology used in these Guidelines is largely based on the American Medical Association’s Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment, 5th Edition (AMA5).

This training module includes the following training resources:

  • Pre-reading to be completed prior to the face-to-face session (Strongly advised)
  • A pre-training questionnaire must be completed by the participants at least 48 hours before attending the face to face workshop.
  • Face to face workshop (Compulsory)

Please note:

You must have a copy of the American Medical Association’s Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment, 5th Edition (AMA5), as it will not be provided. For Psychiatrists undertaking the Core and Psychiatric and Psychological Disorders module, you do not need to buy any AMA Guides. For Ophthalmologists undertaking the Core and Visual system module, you will be required to buy the American Medical Association’s Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment, 4th edition (AMA4).

Please be reminded that the completion of this module, or any other module part of the NSW workers compensation permanent impairment assessment training program, does not automatically guarantee the possibility to perform permanent impairment assessment.

The Core Module does not have a competency-based assessment. Participants are deemed competent by attending the Core Module workshop.
