This course is divided into two comprehensive units:
Unit 1: Nail Disorders
This unit focuses on common nail disorders, with an emphasis on onychomycosis. Participants will learn about the anatomy of the nail unit and the clinical patterns of nail fungal infections. The unit covers diagnostic techniques, including specimen collection and microscopy, as well as treatment options such as systemic and topical antifungals. Preventive measures and complications, such as cellulitis and osteomyelitis, are also discussed.
Unit 2: Hair Loss
The second unit explores hair loss conditions, focusing on the most common types of alopecia, including androgenetic alopecia, telogen effluvium, and alopecia areata. Participants will gain insights into the classification, diagnosis, and treatment of non-cicatricial and cicatricial alopecia. Treatment options discussed include topical minoxidil, systemic therapies, and the newly introduced JAK inhibitors for severe alopecia areata.
