ACAM The Motivated Patient Course

Description

As all clinical practice is unique in its delivery and location ACAM has provided you with the tools you require to recognise and reflect on how you may managed a patient that presents with concerns about their appearance, and how you might distinguish ‘normal’ concern from BDD. This can be difficult at times, given the younger generations and their association with social media and their personal cultural ‘social norm’.

Participants are requested:
  1. Download and read the Medical Board Guidelines
  2. Review and read the peer review literature that has been sourced and provided for your
  3. Review the DSM VII concerning the highlighted areas of mental health concern
  4. Participants are encourage to conduct a literature search www.pubmed.com, to consolidate their ability to search for appropriate information (account is free) anf critique the various peer reviewed papers they may find on the subject.
  5. Complete the quiz, three attempts, 80% pass mark.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the presentation of BDD in clinical practice
  2. Appreciate the intent of the Medical Board Guidelines with respect to mental health assessment and BDD
  3. Develop strategies to engage, review and manage BDD in clinical practice.
